James “Batt” Buckley, CEO
Batt leads product and growth at Firefly, including the software experience and how Firefly reaches the teams it’s built for.
Before Firefly, he helped grow Verkada’s alarms business from K–12 into large enterprise environments. Earlier in his career, he worked at Goldman Sachs and studied Computer Science at the University of St Andrews.
He started Firefly with a clear conviction: safety technology could be fundamentally better, and the teams responsible for protecting people should not have to settle for less.
Alex Penn, CTO
Alex leads engineering and innovation at Firefly, including the hardware and firmware behind the system.
Before Firefly, he spent nearly a decade at Apple building products where ambitious engineering had to meet an equally high bar for usability, design, and reliability. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
At Firefly, he brings that same standard to safety technology, building hardware and systems from the ground up for a category where every detail matters.
